One Mat

Before
After

Sing it.

One love one mat
Let’s get together and feel ok
Feel the floor it’s warmin’ (one love)
Look the floor it’s charmin’ (one mat)
Sayin’ give thanks and praise to the floor ‘cause it feels alright
Sayin’ let’s get together and feel ok

I just messed with one of Bob Marley’s greatest songs – such awesome music.

I only need one mat now in the basement. No more mats surrounding me to keep my limbs off the stone cold floor – just one.

I fixed up the basement where I practice. I have cleaned out the junk, painted the walls, installed new vinyl plank flooring, and skirting boards, painted all the trim and the door. This place is starting to become more of a calming environment – you can’t go wrong when the paint colour is called Quiet Moments.

Doing this job was really fun and that sounds weird for me because normally it’s a chore to do renovations and it’s been a while since I’ve done some. I’ve renovated every house I’ve ever owned and it’s mostly done because it really needs to be done as I tend to be attracted to houses that need work. This job did not really need to be done but I wanted to create a vibe that was conducive to practice. I wanted to want to be there and now I do… sort of, I’d much rather be with my teacher in the shala but this is good enough… for now.

This job went way faster than I thought it would, probably because I enjoyed doing it so much. This is partly because there were no HBF’s (hidden bummer factors) and throughout the whole job I was listening to music which has always been a love of mine, and lastly because I think I needed to be busy.

Bob Marley’s music has always been a way to enter into a world that only exists in my head. Music has always been able to do that to me. My favourite Bob Marley song is Waiting in Vain, followed closely by Three Little Birds – it just conjures up a carefree life on the beach type vibe.

In a sense yoga does the same thing to me – puts me in another world – that exists only in my head.

Oh… and the basement is no longer a subterranean mess.

Be safe.
