Sounds like a campy old “b” movie.
It’s been 24 years since diagnosis, 7 1/2 years of Ashtanga, and one year blogging about it.
I’ve never had a Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, Twitter, or any other social media type account – I’m not anti-tech nor anti-social. But when I decided to create my own website and blog about my MS and Ashtanga experiences; this was a big step.
I did a little research and decide that a blog is the way to go. I talk to my son about it and he does all the work setting up the website. I arrange a host and domain and off we go. We design the site together I want it simple no pop-ups, clean, easy to navigate, safe. We start with a basic template, he codes and makes it look like It does.
My daughters fiancé helps me design the logo which is based on the lotus flower that represents self-regeneration and rebirth. “ * Its characteristics are a perfect analogy for the human condition: even when its roots are in the dirtiest waters, the Lotus produces the most beautiful flower” (by the way my feet are filthy – ha). In the logo design; the MS and lotus flower, which is various colours, have unconnected lines. In the middle of the flower are what resemble prayer hands that are also not touching – all these disconnected pathways represent MS. Underneath the flower is one wavy line and AY (Ashtanga Yoga). The line and letters are the same colour and are continuous, not disconnected, as this represents yoga. Lastly this flower has five petals which represents me personally – I was born 5/5/55 – heavy eh! – ha.
I believe in the possibilities.
In general the goal of this blog has always been to inform. Twenty four years ago MS put my life on a different track. Seven and a half years ago Ashtanga Yoga changed the rails and almost one year ago I started this blog about those events.
My experiences are what I use to tell about my journey – that’s obvious. But I’m not the only one on this journey and I can postulate that some of you are on either the MS path, the Ashtanga path, or both paths like me. Or maybe even none of the above – you just like the prose – ha.
The audience for this blog has surprised me as I have readers from all over the world. It’s not a massive readership (1,773 visitors and 7,092 visits as of 23/10/20). The target audience is relatively narrow; however, the “bounce rate” is pretty good. Bounce rate is when someone arrives at the site; how long do they stay – the things I learn. The current average stay time is just under seven minutes.
I invite you to contribute one of your experiences to this blog. You can post it here and if you prefer you can remain anonymous to the readers. Honest and sincere anonymity can be powerful. My contact info is on the homepage.
